Direct Loan Transition Reports
On March 30, 2010, President Obama signed the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act (HCERA) of 2010, which included Title IV provisions from the Student Aid and Fiscal Responsibility Act. Specifically, the passage of HCERA requires all new federal student loans to be originated through the Department's Direct Loan Program beginning July 1, 2010. The Department has worked closely with schools to provide assistance and training as they transition to the Direct Loan Program. To date, schools are transitioning on schedule and are projected to do so throughout the remainder of the year. The following reports summarize schools' progress in transitioning to the Direct Loan Program.
