In January 2008, Federal Student Aid introduced a new national public service campaign called "My Story," in which real students tell how they got the money they needed for college. Recognizing that students listen to students with backgrounds like their own, Federal Student Aid conducted a search to find real kids willing to tell their own story in their own words. The search led to Ben, Charlie, Jennifer, Jared and Shirly — young people from diverse backgrounds with one thing in common: Federal Student Aid helped them achieve their dream of a college education.
